Belfast-based Dale Farm, a cooperative of 1,300 dairy farmers from across the UK, won a cheese supply contract for the Greggs chain, Britain’s largest bakery chain specializing in savory products such as pastries, cold meats, sandwiches and sweets, including donuts and vanilla slices.
A three-year contract ensures that the cheese from the cooperative farmers will be used in an assortment of sandwiches and pizza in a chain of bakeries.
Dale Farm, one of Northern Ireland's largest food businesses, has an annual turnover of approximately £ 500 million.Dale Farm Group Commercial Director Stephen Cameron said the contract is "proof of superiority" to their farmers' cheese.
