Leading experts of the Omsk Agrarian University showed the world their next achievement. Together they were able to create a new variety of purple wheat.

We are talking about a variety that exhibits increased resistance to pests and drought. In addition, new wheat is unusually easy to adapt to the harsh climatic conditions of Siberia.

Breeders-developers report that new wheat will be grown on the Russian northern fields on an industrial scale for food production. It should be noted that it was not easy to develop such an efficient and prolific wheat variety.

The process of creation lasted a long ten years, but very soon, samples of purple wheat will be poisoned for experimental planting under the supervision of the state commission for the protection and testing of selection achievements of the Russian Federation.

If the wheat of Omsk breeders will please the commission with successful results for three years, then it will be sent to the state list of plants and put on sale for mass cultivation.

It will not be superfluous to note that the substance Anthocyanin, which is known to have a preventive effect against oncological diseases, gives the grains of a unique variety of wheat a purple hue.
