The honeysuckle harvest season is already open. Ukrainian agricultural producers brought to the country's market the first batch of honeysuckle - the earliest spring berries.
Supply growth is expected in the last days of this week. With an increase in berry harvesting volumes, experts predict a decrease in its value to 150 UAH / kg, EastFruit analysts said.
Experts emphasize that this year farmers began to pick berries later than usual due to the low air temperature in the first half of May. It still rains in the West of Ukraine, which also does not contribute to the ripening of honeysuckle.
In the future, weather forecasters predict rains in Central Ukraine, where large honeysuckle plantations are located. The honeysuckle berry, which experts consider more valuable than blueberries, is not yet so popular among Ukrainian consumers, but among producers the demand for seedlings is already growing.
According to analysts, on the sidelines of the conference “Berry Business of Ukraine 2019: Freezing and Fresh Market”, gardeners said that the demand for honeysuckle seedlings in Ukraine remains very high, and this season they were able to completely sell off the entire volume of honeysuckle planting material. Everyone didn’t even have enough seedlings.
