As analysts of the Bank of Russia’s main territorial directorate in the Urals managed to calculate, last month the market value of such types of meat as lamb and pork significantly increased in the okrug markets.
In particular, it became known that since May 2018, pig meat has risen by an average of five to six percent. And experts see the reason for the rise in price in a virus attack. The fact is that pastoralists fear for their livestock, which may suffer from the spread of the African swine fever virus, which is widespread in the world.
It is known that outbreaks of ASF are continually recorded in Asian countries, which are adjacent to the Urals. Experiencing that the virus can reach their farms and destroy all individuals, Ural farmers raise the price of meat in order to insure themselves in case of a likely infection of the livestock.
It is known that the most active rates of pork price increase are registered in the market of the Tyumen region - there pork has become almost twelve percent more expensive over the year.
Also in May, dairy products increased in price in the Urals Federal District. The cost of milk and sour cream is growing especially fast. Analysts are sure that the rise in price of these products is due to the struggle of regional regulatory agencies with counterfeit on dairy shelves.
It is known that several months ago in Russia a law was passed that all dairy products must be equipped with electronic veterinary quality certificates before being put on sale. The introduction of certification has led to the fact that prices for high-quality milk in the regions have increased significantly.
