In the greenhouses of the Chernolesky forestry of the Znamensky district of the Kirovograd region, tropical paradise reigns for several years now. Citrus fruits and bananas grow well here and regularly bear fruit.
The plantation of exotic plants was laid in the Chernolesky farm five years ago. Oranges, tangerines, citrons, grapefruits, lemons have taken root and will soon please their owners with a harvest.
Bananas were planted two years ago. Now they have the time of flowering. The farm received two pots of plants from colleagues from Kiev. In the autumn they were planted and received 8 bushes. In order for the plants to feel good, they were created conditions close to the nature of the subtropics: temperatures up to 22 ° C and 95% humidity, says forestry engineer at the Chernolesky Forestry Elena Elena Kirpa. When the necessary conditions were created for banana seedlings, they began to grow rapidly and multiply. It is not difficult to care for them, the main thing is not to forget to water and feed. Last year, 30 kg of fruit were harvested from eight bushes. After harvesting, adult plants need to be cut. In the vacant place appear young shoots in large numbers.Nowadays, 15 adult plants grow on the farm, says Elena Kirpa. Citrus fruits are more capricious compared to bananas. Their vital signs are monitored by a special mobile device. This year, most citrus fruits were covered with flowers and yielded a crop. The most amazing of them is the citron "Hand of the Buddha." Lemonade is made from its fruits, explains E. Kirpa. Forestry employees plan to increase the plantation of exotic plants. Fruit will be sold through its own store.
