On the territory of the Russian Federation, the ripening season of watermelons and melons has begun. What is noteworthy, the beginning of the harvest pore of melons was marked by several serious incidents.
For example, in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, poisoning as a result of consuming watermelons purchased at the local market occurred in several families at once. It is noteworthy that pregnant women became victims of intoxication due to poor-quality watermelons.
Before the mass sale of watermelons of early varieties began, the experts of the Rosselkhoznadzor repeatedly asked citizens to buy only those vegetables that ripen in the traditional season, and called for abandoning the fruit and vegetable products that are grown out of season. Indeed, when growing seasonal fruits and vegetables, much less chemicals are used that give the fruit color and sweetness and accelerate growth.
Given that the poisoning occurred as a result of the consumption of imported watermelons grown before the start of the traditional season, Russian farmers appealed to the country's authorities to suspend the import of foreign vegetables and fruits, as well as berries and melons.
“We do not have the opportunity to sell our goods, given the impressive volume of imported products presented,” the farmers complain. - Our own product has nowhere to store due to an oversupply, and we cannot process the available fruits and melons in such a volume! Plus, this wave of poisoning ... "
The initiative is under consideration by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
