6 thousand turkeys died on December 27 as a result of a fire at a farm in Boleslawieck County, Poland.
Wroclaw’s media reported that 18 firefighters from Boleslawiec and Legnica County extinguished the fire at a farm in Krzyszow, in the commune Hromadka (Lower Silesian Voivodeship). When the first fire engines arrived, the fire had already devastated the entire livestock complex, and threatened neighboring buildings.
Unfortunately, firefighters could not enter the building because the roof was in danger of collapsing and there was strong smoke inside. In addition, the flames also covered dozens of hay bales that were stored in the building. It was too late to help the bird inside. About 6 thousand turkeys suffocated in dense acrid smoke.
Wild turkey is capable of flying at speeds up to 80 km / h. But this applies only to wild relatives of poultry.
Firefighters had to put out the burning room outside. The situation was resolved after several hours of action. In the afternoon, it was not yet known how long it would take to put out the building and tear down the burnt roof. Firefighters had to remove 36 smoldering bales of hay, among other things, from the cabin.
The adjacent livestock building was saved. Now comes the price of losses incurred from the fire. The police are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
