Fonterra, a New Zealand dairy cooperative, and The Coca-Cola Company, an American corporation for the production and sale of soft drinks concentrates and syrups, have entered into a strategic alliance that aims to harness the potential in the growing category of dairy drinks in Southeast Asia.
The partnership combines Fonterra's dairy nutrition expertise with Coca-Cola's sales and distribution capabilities and has already launched a new range of dairy products in Vietnam.
The products were launched under the Coca-Cola Nutriboost brand and offer consumers a combination of milk and fruit juice in a ready-to-eat product. Both companies are currently exploring opportunities to launch an assortment under the Fonterra Anchor brand, as well as new products in other markets in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.
Judith Suels, Fonterra’s chief operating officer specializing in serving consumers and catering, said the alliance aims to increase demand for dairy drinks in the region.“Dairy products have become one of the fastest growing beverage categories in Southeast Asia. Demand is due to increased consumer attention to health and well-being, and this category is expected to grow by more than 5% annually between 2016 and 2020, ”said Judith Suels.
