According to experts of the Association of Citrus Producers of the State of Sao Paulo Fundecitrus, during 2018-2019. Brazilian gardeners will be able to collect 20.16 million tons of oranges, which is 494 million boxes of 40.8 kg. fruits in each. This is 26% more than it was in 2017-2018.
According to the Association, in the main region of industrial cultivation of these fruits, which stretches from the state of São Paulo to the west of Minas Gerais, 15.87 million tons or 389 boxes of fruit will be collected.
This is much more than the previous season, when 11.67 million tons of products were received, which is 286 million boxes.
In the forecast of the harvest volume of oranges, the following varieties were taken into account: Seleta, Valencia, Hamlim, Pera Rio, Rubi, Pineapple, Valecia Americana, Valencia Argentina, Folha Murcha Valencia, Westin and Natal.
The Association noted that the good weather had a beneficial effect on the orange trees during the time when they bloomed, developed and fructified. For this reason, each of the orange trees produced more fruit than usual - 783 this season compared to 564 in the past.
The harvest of oranges in other regions of the country was at the level of last year and amounted to 105 million boxes or 4.28 million tons.
